Today, Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR), Co-Chair of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition, issued the following statement after President Obama released his Fiscal Year 2012 budget proposal:
"Last week during our annual issues conference, the Blue Dogs met with leaders from across the political spectrum – including President Bill Clinton and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg – to discuss ways to bring Republicans and Democrats together to develop middle of the road, common sense solutions to our nation's biggest challenges.

Today, members of the Blue Dog Coalition announced their renewed endorsement of legislation that would ease Congressional gridlock by reforming the redistricting process. The two bills, introduced by Congressman Jim Cooper of Tennessee and Congressman Heath Shuler of North Carolina, would put an end to political gerrymandering, a longstanding priority of the Blue Dogs that has spanned both Republican and Democratic majorities in the House.

Today Congressman Mike Ross, Co-Chair of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition, issued the following statement on the budget and economic outlook released by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office:
"The CBO report released today underscores what Blue Dogs have been saying for years – that Democrats and Republicans have to work together if we have any hope of putting our country back on a fiscally sustainable path. Talking points won't do it, and neither will finger pointing. It's time to start making some difficult decisions."

"For years the Blue Dogs led the fight to restore the same, proven pay-as-you-go rules that brought about the surpluses of the 1990's. Last year we saw those efforts come to fruition when statutory PAYGO was signed into law.

Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2142, "The Government Performance and Results Modernization Act of 2010," clearing the bill for the President's signature. The legislation, championed by Representative Henry Cuellar of Texas, will bring increased transparency and accountability to the federal government by implementing the same results oriented approach that has improved the value and efficiency of state-level programs across the country.
