WASHINGTON— Today, the fiscally-responsible Blue Dog Coalition announced that it has endorsed a Balanced Budget Amendment, which was authored by Rep. Ben McAdams (UT-04), co-chair for the Blue Dog Task Force on Fiscal Responsibility and Government Reform. Rep. McAdams is the first House Democrat to introduce a Balanced Budget Amendment during the 116th Congress.

WASHINGTON—Yesterday, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce voted unanimously to pass Blue Dog Coalition-endorsed legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs and increase transparency in the drug pricing system. The endorsed legislation is the bipartisan Payment Commission Act and the bipartisan Bringing Low-cost Options and Competition while Keeping Incentives for New Generics (BLOCKING) Act.

WASHINGTON— Today, the Blue Dog Coalition announced that Adam Finkel has joined the Coalition's staff as Policy Coordinator. In his official capacity, Finkel, who previously served as Director of Government Relations for the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), will be working directly with Blue Dog members and staff, including the Coalition's Policy Task Forces, to promote Blue Dog legislative priorities.

WASHINGTON—Today, the Blue Dog Coalition announced its endorsement of two bipartisan bills to lower the cost of prescription drugs and increase transparency in the drug pricing system. The endorsed legislation is the Payment Commission Act and the Bringing Low-cost Options and Competition while Keeping Incentives for New Generics (BLOCKING) Act. Both pieces of legislation are being marked up by the House Energy and Commerce Committee this week.

WASHINGTON—Florida Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, took part in a hearing in Congress where she criticized the Trump Administration's approach to fiscal discipline. At a Ways and Means hearing on the President's budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year, Murphy questioned U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on the Administration's failure to acknowledge the threat of our growing debt.

WASHINGTON—Today, the Blue Dog Coalition announced its endorsement of H.R. 129, No Budget, No Pay Act, which was authored by Congressman Jim Cooper (TN-05) and co-sponsored by several other Blue Dog members. No Budget, No Pay would prevent House and Senate members from receiving their salary if they miss annual deadlines for budget and appropriations bills, and they would not be paid retroactively.

Today, the Blue Dog Co-Chair for Communications, Rep. Lou Correa (CA-46) issued the following statement on H.R. 1, For the People Act of 2019, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives. H.R. 1 included several Blue Dog Coalition priorities, such as securing our elections, redistricting reform, increasing transparency on Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) funding, and increasing oversight to prevent government leaders from misusing tax dollars on lavish flights and unnecessary military air travel.
