Yesterday, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released the June 2017 Budget and Economic Outlook. According to the CBO, in fiscal year 2017, the budget deficit will total $693 billion, or 3.6 percent of the GDP—$134 billion more than prior estimates and the highest projection since 2012. America's debt will grow from $14.3 trillion today to $25.5 trillion by 2027—and in 10 years, the nation's debt will be 91 percent of the GDP.
Today, the co-chairs of the fiscally responsible Blue Dog Coalition—Reps. Jim Costa (D-CA), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), and Daniel Lipinski (D-IL)—announced the Blue Dog Task Forces for the 115th Congress.
Today, H.R. 1873, the Electricity Reliability and Forest Protection Act passed in the House of Representatives with bipartisan support, 300-118. Prior to its passage, the Democratic Blue Dog Coalition endorsed the bipartisan bill, which was introduced by Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR) and Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA).
The Democratic Blue Dog Coalition has endorsed H.R. 2645, the Prevention and Oversight of Intelligence Sharing with Enemies (POISE) Act, which was introduced by Blue Dog Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL).
