WASHINGTON—Today, the Blue Dog Coalition, which focuses on issues related to fiscal responsibility and national security, released a package of legislative proposals in response to the conclusions presented in Volume I of the Mueller Report regarding Russia's attack against the U.S. political system and attempts to interfere in the 2016 election.

This legislation would apply pressure on the Chinese government to honor its commitment to make all forms of fentanyl illegal and provide the United States more tools and resources to go after illicit traffickers in China, Mexico, and other countries. Today, the Blue Dog Co-Chair for Communications, Rep. Lou Correa (CA-46) issued the following statement on H.R. 1, For the People Act of 2019, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives. H.R. 1 included several Blue Dog Coalition priorities, such as securing our elections, redistricting reform, increasing transparency on Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) funding, and increasing oversight to prevent government leaders from misusing tax dollars on lavish flights and unnecessary military air travel.

WASHINGTON—Today, President Trump announced he would proceed with a deal proposed by the Blue Dog Coalition to reopen the government and then hold a substantive, bipartisan, and bicameral discussion on border security that would produce legislation to quickly pass both chambers of Congress, ideally with a veto-proof majority. The Democratic Blue Dog Coalition has endorsed H.R. 4918, the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act, which is aimed at preventing acts of domestic terrorism by white supremacists and other extremist groups. This is a companion bill to legislation first introduced in the Senate by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL). The House bill was introduced by Blue Dogs Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL), Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA), and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), as well as Rep.

Today, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) and Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL), co-chairs of the Blue Dog Task Force on National Defense, sent a letter to the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Rep. Michael McCaul, calling for public hearings focused on domestic terrorism related to white supremacist groups.

Today, H.R. 3364, the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, passed the U.S. House of Representatives, 419-3. This bill includes Blue Dog-endorsed legislation designed to combat terrorism financing. The legislation, written by Blue Dog Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), establishes a whole-of-government strategy to combat the financing of terrorism.
