Ross Statement on President Obama's State of the Union Address
January 25, 2011
Tonight, Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR), Co-Chair of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition, released the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union Address:
"I am encouraged to hear the President emphasize the need for shared sacrifice. Rather than continuing to play the blame game, it is time for members on both sides of the aisle to put down the talking points and come together to find common ground.
"Unfortunately, the year has only just begun and already the partisan rhetoric is escalating in Congress. If we do not begin to tone it down and work together across party lines, we have no hope of doing what the American people sent us here to do: put our economy back on track, pay down the debt, and create jobs for hard working Americans.

"The Blue Dogs believe firmly that no one party has the copyright on good ideas. We are committed to working with Republicans and Democrats to bridge the partisan divide and bring people together to do what's in the best interest of the country."
