PRESIDENT CLINTON TO SPEAK TO BLUE DOGS

February 7, 2011
Today Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR), Co-Chair of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition, issued the following statement on President Clinton speaking to the Blue Dog Coalition's annual issues conference in New York.

"The Blue Dogs are working to find ways to bring people together to develop middle of the road, common sense solutions to our nation's biggest challenges. If we have any hope of doing what the American people sent us here to do – create jobs, pay down the debt and put our economy back on a fiscally sustainable path – both Republicans and Democrats must begin to work together.

"President Clinton has a proven record of success working with members of both parties to move this country forward. His perspective will be invaluable as we continue to strive for a bipartisan Congress."

The fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition was formed in 1995 with the goal of representing the center of the House of Representatives and appealing to the mainstream values of the American public. The Blue Dogs are dedicated to a core set of beliefs that transcend partisan politics, including a deep commitment to the financial stability and national security of the United States. Currently there are 25 members of the Blue Dog Coalition.
