Mike Ross Statement on Blue Dog Rep. Heath Shuler not Seeking Re-Election

February 2, 2012
U.S. Representative Mike Ross, D-Ark., Blue Dog Co-Chair for Communications, issued the following statement on U.S. Representative Health Shuler's, D-N.C., announcement that he will not be seeking re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Shuler is the Co-Chair for Administration for the fiscally conservative, Democratic Blue Dog Coalition.

"Since 2007, Heath Shuler has fought hard for the people of western North Carolina, becoming a powerful and effective moderating voice in a town too often mired in partisan politics. Heath has become a great friend and I can personally attest to his commitment and passion for the people of North Carolina – he has always put the interests of his constituents above all. We need more commonsense voices in Congress like Heath Shuler who judge policy based on its merits, not on party allegiance. The Blue Dog Coalition will continue to follow his example of leadership and work hard to bring both parties together to solve the fiscal challenges that face this nation."
