Blue Dog Statement on CBO Budget and Economic Outlook

Today, Congressman Kurt Schrader, Co-Chair of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition, issued the following statement on the budget and economic outlook released by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office:

"The CBO report released today is yet another reminder of what the Blue Dog Coalition has been saying for years: we have a fiscal crisis and we must work across the aisle if we are going to return to the days of balanced budgets. In the coming weeks we will see both parties put forth lopsided budget proposals. Those futile, partisan exercises must be met with a bipartisan and balanced proposal that deals with sequestration and works to address our nation's long-term cost drivers. The Blue Dogs stand ready to work with our colleagues from both parties, who are willing to move past partisan talking points, and begin putting the United States back on a path of financial sustainability."
