Blue Dog Coalition Congratulates Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small On Her New Position as USDA Deputy Secretary

Washington – Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chairs and Members offered their heartfelt congratulations to newly sworn-in US Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small.

Torres Small served as a Blue Dog Member in the House from 2019 - 2021, and quickly became a linchpin in the group, co-chairing the Blue Dog Task Force on Rural Opportunity.

As Undersecretary for Rural Development, she met with Blue Dog members in fall of 2022, and again this past month, providing important updates and listening to member concerns.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Blue Dog Coalition Co-Chair for Communications, attended the swearing-in ceremony for Torres Small this week.

"We are thrilled to see her rise in the ranks at USDA, and we are confident she will be a tremendously effective leader in this new role," Gluesenkamp Perez said.
