Following Blue Dog Coalition’s Lead, House Moves on Permitting Reform

December 19, 2025

WASHINGTON D.C. — This week, the House passed H.R. 4776 Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act, following Blue Dog endorsement of the legislation.

This week, Congress took a key step towards empowering the United States to once again firmly establish ourselves as a nation of builders. By passing the SPEED Act, Congress comes one step closer to cutting red tape, lowering administrative burdens, supporting U.S. manufacturing, and ensuring accountability throughout the permitting process," said the Blue Dog Coalition. Streamlining permitting is essential to executing an all-of-the-above energy strategy, so projects can move forward faster and reduce consumer costs. We stand ready to work with partners in the Senate to help address one of our nation's biggest challenges: Letting America build what we need, when we need it.”

The SPEED Act is co-led by Rep. Jared Golden (ME-02) and co-sponsored by Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03), Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), Rep. Adam Gray (CA-13), and Rep. Jim Costa (CA-21).
