The Blue Dog Coalition is an official caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives comprised of fiscally-responsible Democrats, who are leading the way to find commonsense solutions. They are pragmatic Democrats, appealing to the mainstream values of the American public. The Blue Dogs are dedicated to pursuing fiscally-responsible policies, ensuring a strong national defense for our country, and transcending party lines to get things done for the American people.

About 4 million Californians are about to lose their Medicaid coverage, another 1.7 million Covered California enrollees will see a premium increase of 66% because of expiring tax credits. On top of that, 70 hospitals are on the verge of declaring bankruptcy because of the One,Big, Beautiful Bill.

And what are Republicans in Congress doing to keep us from going over a healthcare cliff? Nothing.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Blue Dog Coalition released the following statement in response to the federal government funding expiration:

“Keeping the government open is a core responsibility of Congress and the epitome of fiscal responsibility. By failing to act in a bipartisan manner to fund the government, Congress is wasting taxpayer money, damaging the economy, and harming our constituents by shuttering programs they depend on, like food assistance for working families and support for small businesses.

WASHINGTON D.C. — The Blue Dog Coalition issued the following statement endorsing the Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act of 2025, legislation that would reverse the drastic health care cuts from Republicans' partisan budget bill and permanently extend the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits.
