They are pragmatic Democrats, appealing to the mainstream values of the American public. The Blue Dogs are dedicated to pursuing fiscally-responsible policies, ensuring a strong national defense for our country, and transcending party lines to get things done for the American people.

WASHINGTON D.C. — The Blue Dog Coalition issued the following statement endorsing H.Res.981, a bipartisan resolution to set a fiscal goal to reduce the federal budget deficit to 3% or less of the gross domestic product (GDP).
"A new movement is emerging that could bridge the gulf between mainstream Democrats — still dwelling too much in the rarified air of urban meritocracy — and the practical concerns of working folks and rural dwellers. If successful, this third way offers moderate voters an escape from Trump’s self-aggrandizing, fake-populism while popping the air out of the Democrats’ pie-in-the-sky agenda."
